Before

Now I work on the Engine bay. Complete wiring of new. Now the engine is black. Alternator, intake manifold and valve cover are polished. Fully recyclable alternator, new bearings and brushes. I think I will finish with the engine bay after one month.

Leather roof and lights

My first fix on the car was the roof. The old one was verry dirty and I make the ceiling of leather. At the rear of the cabin I fit lighting. Now look very good. Then I bought a new steering. But now I want to sell it and install the original. I buy new audio. Alpine iDa-X 301. The sound is pretty nice. I put new speakers in a backside. The music is enough for the moment. I change the grid. The new one is without emblem.

With new wheels one week after purchase

I dreamed many times about Corrado. When I went in to UK to work I was sure in that I will buy Corrado. And One day I bought in Acktion VR6 2.9 liters. But after one week I gave up buying. The reason was in Bulgarian legislation. If you buy car more than 120 kW you must pay a lot of excise. For 2.9 140 kW, the excise was ~ 3200.00$. After one month I found 2.0i, 16 valve in Brighton, UK. The car was pretty original. With not so good shape. The car never had a garage. In a right backside have a rust, there is a rust in a place of the battery. The catalyst had come loose and was hanging. The car was pretty noise. I fix it on the next day. After two weeks I left for Bulgaria, and the car was like a bird. The engine was in verry good condition. In Romania had a problem. The clutch is broke. I drove ~ 450 km without clutch very slowly. When I arrive in Bulgaria it was the first thing which I fix. After six mounts i go back to the UK. Now I am in Bulgaria and work on the car, but not so fast. I don't have so much time.

I was driving to Toronto in mid-October (2011) and for some reason, as if it were a sign from God, my head was filled with the memory of seeing a sweet little quasi-cranberry-coloured Corrado in a restaurant parking lot in Ottawa three or four years ago. Being a car freak/geek, this was not unusual. I think of cars OFTEN. The memory was short-lived and life carried on. Days later, on October 13, I receive a text message from an unknown phone number asking simply "Hi there is this kent?" "Who wants to know?" was my reply. "Haha, I don't know if you would remember but you left a card on my Corrado a few years back saying if I ever plan on selling the car to let you know , well that time has come." So, was this a sign from God? Was he testing me? Teasing me? Or just jerking my chain? The owner, Clint, and I exchanged a few texts and I went to Ottawa to look at the car and take it for a test drive. Yes, you guessed it. I bought the car. Who could resist the purrrrrr of that supercharger at 140 kms... My first VW. And probably the best looking one they ever built. I would later learn it was in fact 'burgundy pearl' and not 'quasi cranberry' but I can live with that colour. Love it! It was the colour that attracted me to the car in the first place at the Montana's restaurant in the IDEA plaza in Ottawa. I remember the food not being all that good ... but now having the car has more than made up for it.

I sold my G60 Corrado back in April of 2008. It still lives on in Oshkosh, Wisconsin with its new owner. I don't believe he is a part of Corrado World. At any rate, I finally reached my limit with the car when the new timing belt I had installed broke for the final time. I grew tired of wrenching on it when I'd have rather been driving it. Nice to see the picture of it on the website header...thanks for that Skye. My replacement ride is a 2001 Audi TT Quattro Roadster. Tastefully modded and quick as hell. Reliable too! I added a headliner for the convertible top, a center armrest, and a factory luggage rack I found on EBAY. I also tracked down the original Pzwo P1 wheels that were on the car when it was bought new by Hillside Imports here in Portland.

My First Corrado 1993

I had a 1990 Nugget Yellow G60, but sold her in 1995 due to starting a family. I always hoped to have another, but thought it unlikely due to the limited number available. Unexpectedly, I came across one just like the one I had owned on Craigslist. Within a week, she was mine! I am loving every minute!

It was 1996 and I was walking through the college car park when I saw a Red Corrado and instantly fell in love with the beautiful shape and look of the VW Coupe. Only when I finally got round to buying a Corrado in September 2008 did I realise the coincidence of my 'love at first sight'-ing as I found that my newly purchased Corrado was registered in the same year I first saw one. I know I probably paid a bit over the odds for my Corrado, but it was mint and it was exactly what I wanted, so who's to tell me how much to pay for something I'd wanted for 12 years. It has black leather interior with heated seats, sunroof, electic windows etc and compaired to the Peugeot 306 Diesel I had at the time, it didn't have an accelerator - it had a hyper space pedal. The bloke I bought it from is a VW Mechanic who had been head hunted and was moving to Germany. It has loads of paperwork and all the vital work had been done. When I handed over the deposit, the owners Dad opened a bottle of champayne and gave me and my girlfriend a glass. Nice. Since then the car has a few bits that I've added to my 'to-do' list to get her back up to the scratch. The reason for me starting this Journal is because my girlfirend and I are taking the Corrado on a European Tour down to Northern Italy for a friends wedding, then back through Switzerland and poss Germany and Luxembourg. The highlights (apart from the wedding obviously) are going to be the Monaco F1 GP track in Monte Carlo (can't ...

corrado

well i finally become a member of the corrado family, yesterday i purchased my first corrado, i owned a 01 jetta before but thats about it, i always liked the shape of the corrados and now im loving the driving part. it's new territory for me and on top o that, all the badges on the car are gone, came with no manuals, no door jam stickers, no nothing. Aside from the blown g charger obvious by the huge missing chunk from the top of it, missing stereo, speakers, messed up shocks, wire showing on tires, rusted through the hatch door, i see true potential. This is gonna be a long hard adventure but i'm gonna love every minute of it Aloha!!
