The new database servers are performing well under load, so I'll be continuing the database conversion process to the new layout for all websites, which will pave the way for better replication and backup systems. Please expect to see the "Scheduled maintenance" message on Friday night, February 17, 2017 starting at 9:00 PM Pacific time. I expect the work to take 4-6 hours as I want to take a full backup of the system for safety before making any changes. Once the websites are back up, there should be no visible difference in the operation or performance of the website. Schedule: Jan...

Hello everyone, You've probably noticed that this website has had some unplanned downtime lately. I'm not sure about the exact cause, it's probably an intermittent hardware failure as the techs keep finding the main server powered off at the console. I've been rebooting and repairing the database as needed to keep things running, while making plans to transition to brand new servers with updated database, webserver, and firewall software. The good news is I've already run the migration plan on some of my smaller websites, and it's working brilliantly. The bad news is that the frequenc...

It's a real blast cruising around town in a classic automobile, especially a Volkswagen, there's nothing quite like it, but to do so you must first find and obtain your classic automotive dream machine. As this website is all about Corrado's, let me share the story of how my Corrado came to be in my care. To start with, I wasn't actually looking to buy a new car at the time, it just so happened that I was facing a thousand dollars in repairs on my 1995 Pontiac Firebird V6 and was feeling very uncertain as to whether or not I really wanted to put that much money in to it at that point. I loved ...

I am a Volksaholic to the highest degree and though I am not a mechanic, I can honestly say that there isn't a make of vehicle that has ever been or ever will be on the road that I could appreciate more than a Volkswagen. All Volkswagen enthusiasts know that they are unique and of extraordinary design, though that isn't to say that there weren't vehicles produced that had some issues, but they are still something special none the less. One of the things I find of particular interest, is that at the end of the 70's when Volkswagen changed from being a rear to front engine offering, it was more ...

Well I finally figure the thick smoke was nothing more than dirty old gas, 2 tanks later and the smoke has cleared. However I started to notice that the engine was bucking and sputtering while running or just at idle. so completed the tune up and now she does fantastic.

the new rims
I had lost track of how long it has been since I really worked on the Corrado. Spent much of last summer helping a friend get his motorcycle running, good times and great guy, so the time wasn't really wasted. I found some decent used tires and had them mounted to a set of 5 star red rims that I picked up as temporary rims until I could get a nice set. Within a week of getting them mounted I came across a set of exactly what I wanted (isn't it always the way). So I've switched them over and last weekend I mounted them onto the car. The rims are just what I wanted, black with chrome beau...

Well I have the engine runnig and idling good, however whe it starts from cold there is some gray smoke and after a while it goes away and it does not smoke, but when you reve it up fast black smoke comes out of the tail pipe. i do believe i need to flush the engine oil since it was parked for 5 years, also flush the fuel system and the brakes. but for now i do believe i will have to change the oil and place full synthetic and in the process add additives to the engine to recondition the seals inside the engine. I hope this eliminates the flow of smoke. In the meantime i am working on re...
